Hear Me Now is a storytelling and listening initiative in partnership with StoryCorps. Storytelling is an important part of our culture at Providence St. Joseph Health; it’s one way we keep our heritage alive and honor the people and communities we serve. Providence St. Joseph Health is launching the Hear Me Now project to record stories of patients, families and caregivers. Our focus is whole person care and gathering personal narratives of people who are a part of PSJH work at all levels.

Hear Me Now invites people who know one another well to participate in a personal, recorded conversation. Interviews last approximately 40 minutes. Before the conversation, participants are asked to think about what they’d like to share or discuss. We have a suggested list of questions to get participants started. Of course, participants are welcome to create their own questions.

We want to hear from anyone in the community who has a great story to tell. In particular, we are hoping to record stories with:

• Family members
• Patients
• Caregivers who are committed to whole person care

A few weeks after the recording session, the storyteller will receive a CD of the interview as a keepsake. With your permission, a copy of the interview will be archived for generations to come at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and with Providence St. Joseph Health. Some of the recordings will be edited into short segments in the signature StoryCorps style and may be shared on the radio or online.
