Advancing Palliative Care
Core to IHC’s mission is the advancement of palliative care throughout
Providence. The IHC continues to support the 35 inpatient ambulatory palliative
care teams across the system by providing data and leadership support
to showcase the impact of their work. Since 2016, the Institute has supported
Palliative Care programs by providing analytics to demonstrate the impact
of teams across Providence.
One significant outcome has been the increase in palliative care volumes
from 10,000 in 2016 to over 32,000 in 2024. But the work is not done.
In our ever-changing healthcare climate, it is essential that we collaborate
and work together to become more efficient, ensuring that every patient
receives the best care possible. As the organization seeks to further
the advancement of palliative care in practice, we have launched a Palliative
Care Steering Committee (PCSC).
The PCSC serves as a collaborative hub for palliative care leaders across
Providence, guiding outcomes and standardizing work in alignment with
the system’s strategic plan.
