A call to hospice Jan 20, 2022 Carlos Alaniz & Dr. Gregg Vandekieft Carlos, director of hospice services at Sound Hospice in Olympia, began his career as an occupational therapist (OT) but felt a calling to work in hospice. He was unsure when he saw Providence was looking for an occupational therapist for its hospice program, but realized he and the organization were a great fit. He tells palliative care physician, Gregg Vandekieft, M.D., the OT role adds function to mobility allowing hospice patients to preform self-care and ensure dignity.
