MyChart Access for adult patients 18+

Adults with decision-making capacity may grant proxy access to other adults (e.g., adult child, or other trusted person) who helps care for them. This access can support managing a patient’s care and communicating with care teams.

FAQ

Who can be a MyChart Proxy?

Providence patients over age 18 can appoint any adult as a MyChart Proxy. Your healthcare provider should not be your Proxy.

What information will the proxy see?

The layout and information available will be identical to what is in the patient’s MyChart.

Can I send a message as a patient without the proxy seeing?

Yes, the patient can send a message to the care provider and indicate that they would like to keep that correspondence between the provider and patient. The proxy also can send a message to the care provider privately without the patient seeing.

What if I change my mind and don’t want a person to be my proxy?

You can revoke the proxy status through MyChart or call your local clinic.

Can I choose more than one person to have access to my records?

Yes, you can choose more than one person to be your proxy.

Does patient have to have a MyChart set up to have a proxy

No. A patient does not need to have a MyChart account to grant access to a proxy.

How can I establish Proxy access?

To grant Proxy access, you can ask your local clinic for assistance at your next appointment. If you and your trusted proxy both already have Providence MyChart Access, you can grant this electronically using the "Share My Record" feature under the "Sharing" tab.
