Providence Saint John's Health Center uses advanced technology to save LAPD officer's life.

A Los Angeles police detective who contracted COVID-19 was in critical condition two weeks ago when he was transferred to Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica for lifesaving treatment. Clinical trial drugs and the highly specialized ECMO procedure (which oxygenates the body, giving the heart and lungs time to heal) saved his life. The officer was discharged into the loving arms of his family after leaving Saint John’s in a victory walk attended by LAPD Chief Michel Moore, officers and Saint John’s caregivers who to celebrate his recovery. The officer told reporters that he owes his gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Saint John’s for saving his life.
